Ah, April, month of showers and taxes. Well, taxes are probably more inevitable than rain, especially in certain parts of the country. After spending a weary dozen hours working out your revenue figures, checking everything twice, making sure that you don't accidentally remove or insert a trailing zero, you stop. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to sit back and relax, have a nice warm cup of java, and peruse the latest articles in Open Mike?
I'm thinking to myself how I could make my phone bill a little more reasonable, as I sit here, staring at the glowing phosphor in front of me. Maybe it's the seed of a future article, maybe not. When most of your calls are long distance, because there are no local bulletin boards or commercial service access numbers, that monthly phone bill can look a little frightening. I usually leave it unopened for several days, until I can muster up the courage to put it on my desk and think about opening it. I know I'm in trouble when it's in a special envelope that will fit more than a dozen pages. Oh, well. The cost of being an online junkie.
You'll probably notice that there are more and more contributions from other writers. This is due in part to people actually coming up to me, saying things like, "I have some ideas for articles", or "why haven't you written about so and so yet?" Well, my response to them is, "take your idea and grow it into an article. I'll gladly consider it for a future issue of Open Mike." Some people have taken me up on the offer. Others go away and never return.
If you'd like to write for Open Mike, please don't be shy. We're interested in articles on just about any aspect of MicroPhone and its script language. Sometimes even an idea is enough to get you started. Drop me a line at any of the electronic addresses you'll find elsewhere in this issue. I read all my mail (part of the reason for my monthly phone bills). Also, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask away. That's the main reason we have the Question & Answer section.
